Name: Eric Adams

Party: Running for mayor as an independent on the “Safe and Affordable” Party line, but still registered as a Democrat

Age: 65

Race: New York City mayor

Background: Eric Adams took office in January 2022, becoming the second Black mayor in New York City history .

Adams served as a state senator and as Brooklyn borough president before becoming mayor. He was previously an officer of the NYC Transit Police and NYPD before getting into politics.
