WASHINGTON — Prosecutors asked a judge to ban Trayon White from claiming that the FBI set him up in his upcoming bribery trial, new court documents say.

The D.C. councilmember was arrested by the FBI in August 2024 for allegedly accepting more than $35,000 in cash and thousands more in kickbacks in exchange for securing government contracts for a violence interruption program. His trial is set to begin in January.

Since his arrest, he's claimed time and time again that the FBI set him up. When he was sworn back into his council seat Aug. 8, he made a bizarre claim that federal investigators want him dead.

"The FBI is after me. But I believe that, not just arrest me, but I believe they want to kill me," White said, moments after being sworn into office in August.
