Alabama State campus on lockdown after 'terroristic threat'

Alabama State University went on lockdown Thursday morning after it was one of several HBCUs that targeted by terroristic threats.

Amber Douglas, marketing and brand director at ASU, said that, "out of an abundance of caution," campus operations are shut down "until further notice."

"We are working in close coordination with the appropriate law enforcement agencies to assess the situation and to ensure the safety and security of our students, faculty, staff, and the broader ASU community," Douglas wrote in a statement. "The safety of our Hornet family is our highest priority."

Specifics of the threat and details on when campus activities are expected to return are not yet publicly available as the situation is still developing.
