PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- With just under two months to go before the primary is held in the special election to fill the Ward 2 seat on the Providence City Council, a fourth candidate has formally emerged in the campaign.

Jill Davidson announced she is running as a Democrat in the upcoming race to replace Helen Anthony on Thursday afternoon.

Anthony announced at the beginning of August that she was stepping down from her role to “more fully focus” on her health after she was seriously injured in an ATV accident in June 2023 while on a trip to California.
