REIDSVILLE, N.C. — Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page confirmed Thursday that 26-year-old Ni Majae Logan was taken into custody after an hours-long search in Reidsville.

Deputies said Logan was wanted for an armed carjacking that happened earlier Thursday morning in Danville, Virginia. Investigators said he pepper-sprayed a woman and stole her car before heading south into North Carolina.

Authorities spotted Logan near the Walmart on North Scales Street in Reidsville. Sheriff Page said that when a deputy approached the vehicle, Logan got out and ran into a wooded area, sparking a large search.

Multiple agencies joined the effort, including Highway Patrol, which deployed a helicopter, along with K9 units on the ground.
