The Red Sox face a lot of questions going into the offseason including whether Alex Bregman will opt out of his contract.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported last week that that he believes the third baseman will opt out of his deal and become a free agent, “barring an injury or catastrophic slump.”
Red Sox president and CEO Sam Kennedy said on WEEI on Thursday that he was surprised by the report because there have been no discussions with Bregman.
“He wants to be here, we want him to be here, and I’ll leave it at that,” Kennedy said . “He’s such an important part of this season and what we’re doing.”
