DALLAS — A Dallas poker room can stay open after the Texas Supreme Court recently declined to review the case following a yearslong legal battle .

Texas Card House, a membership-based club/poker room in the 11000 block of Harry Hines Boulevard, was initially granted a certificate of occupancy by the city in 2020. The city then sought to revoke the certificate of occupancy in 2021, saying it was an illegal gambling place and the certificate of occupancy was issued in error.

Gambling is generally illegal in Texas, unless it's done in a private place and no person received any economic benefit other than personal winnings, and the risks are equal for all participants.
