MUSCATINE, Iowa (KWQC) - The only fully operational World War II Landing Ship Tank has arrived in Muscatine and will be open for public tours.

USS LST 325 is known for its historic role in the invasions of Sicily and Normandy on D-Day.

The 328-foot vessel arrived at the riverfront near Pearl City Station at 11 p.m. Tuesday, and will be open for tours Thursday through Monday.

Muscatine’s visit is part of the USS LST 325’s annual “cruise” schedule, where the ship travels from its home port in Evansville, Indiana, to river communities along its route, bringing history ashore in person rather than behind glass.
