Nina Charles is always up for an adventure — skydiving, trapeze stunts, haunted houses.

That last one came into play recently when Food Network recruited the Carencro baker for the 11th season of its "Halloween Baking Championship" show, premiering with a two-hour episode at 8 p.m. Monday and streaming the next day on HBO Max.

Food Network sets up the competition series like this: "Hosted by John Henson and set in a haunted mansion, the season features myriad dessert challenges, including some inspired by the monsters and deranged clowns of competitors’ worst nightmares."

Speaking of nightmares …
