BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - The Bismarck City Commission approved the city’s 2026 budget during its meeting on Sept. 9.

Some highlights of the 2026 budget include initial funding for a new $80 million police station. It will be financed by a portion of the half-cent sales tax measure passed by voters last November. The current police station was built in 1979.

The airport will also receive upgrades to its runways and passenger terminal. An $8.6 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration will help fund these projects.

Other city projects, totaling over $73 million, include expansion and improvements to the city’s water treatment plant, an extension of Tyler Parkway, the new Haycreek Lift Station and street resurfacing and reconstruction.
