A University of Mississippi staff member is no longer employed after re-sharing what university officials called “hurtful, insensitive comments” on social media regarding the tragic murder of Charlie Kirk.

In a statement issued by Chancellor Glenn F. Boyce, the university condemned the comments, saying they ran “completely counter to our institutional values of civility, fairness, and respecting the dignity of each person.”

“All of us have a responsibility to take seriously our commitment to upholding a civil and respectful campus environment,” Boyce said.

He added that the university’s “thoughts and prayers are with the Kirk family, as well as members of our campus community who are affected by this senseless act of violence.”
