Owen McKenny opened up about his cyberbullying experience in the Netflix documentary “Unknown Number: The High School Catfish.”

Owen was in his early teens when he and his then-girlfriend, Lauryn Licari, started receiving taunting text messages in 2020. The anonymous messenger seemed intent on breaking them up, leaving Owen and Lauryn to wonder if one of their classmates had a problem with their relationship.

The messages stoped after a while, but they resumed in September 2021. Owen and Lauryn were then plagued with incessant messages from an unknown number for over a year. Many of the messages were sexual in nature, with the messenger describing what they could do to satisfy Owen better than Lauryn. The texts continued even after Owen and Lauryn broke up.
