LANSING - Local officials, first responders and the public marked the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the U.S. with a somber ceremony at Wentworth Park in Lansing on Sept. 11.
Members of the Lansing Fire Department and Lansing Police Department honor guards were present, laying a wreath at the memorial in the park that includes a twisted steel beam from one of the World Trade Center buildings.
Brad Heffner of Ithaca was among those in attendance.
"I come here to honor those who lost their lives, and to keep the power of memory alive," Heffner said.
