The first real week of boys soccer in New Jersey proved to be an upset-laden one and one full of surprising results.

Seemingly untouchable for much of last year, St. Benedict’s seemingly showed a flash of mortality against Montclair in a 3-1 win over the Mounties. That could’ve been an encouraging sign to all the team in Essex County, only for Benedict’s to then return to form and outscore its next two opponents, 9-0.
