HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Two West Virginians were among the thousands killed on this day in 2001.
Huntington native Dr. Paul Ambrose was on Flight 77 that was deliberately flown into The Pentagon.
After graduating from Marshall’s medical school, Ambrose went on to work for Surgeon General C. Everett Koop.
In fact, Flight 77 was headed to Los Angeles where Ambrose was scheduled to address a conference on the surgeon general’s “call to action” on obesity in America.
Another West Virginia native was killed in the attacks, Mary Lou Hague, a 1992 Parkersburg High School graduate.
Hague was a cheerleader in high school and hospital volunteer.
Hague was 26 years old and working for an investment banking firm on the 89th floor of the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
