The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has instituted changes regarding who can get the updated COVID-19 vaccine that has left individuals - particularly seniors - trying to navigate whether they are eligible.

Now local officials in Arizona are awaiting some clarity on the vaccine they expect to come out of a meeting next week with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

This season, those who qualify are age 65 and older or 6 months or older with at least one high-risk health condition. Previously the requirement was 6 months and older.

The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention announced a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Immunizations Practices for Thursday, Sept. 18, and Friday, Sept. 19, which is in accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act.
