LEXINGTON, Ky. — Scott Stanley, a tenured faculty member at the University of Kentucky, was fired for ethics breaches and policy violations related to misconduct and mismanagement in the former Equine Analytical Chemistry Lab (EACL), according to a news release. The lab provided drug testing information to the equine industry.

Last Septembe r, the UK started to remove Stanley, planning to dismiss him after an initial internal investigation.

Termination of a tenured faculty member is rare but is permissible under Kentucky Revised Statutes for reasons of incompetence, neglect of or refusal to perform duties or for immoral conduct.
