MONTGOMERY, Ala. ( WSFA ) - Classes and campus activities at Alabama State University are canceled Thursday after a “terroristic threat” was directed at the campus, university officials confirmed.

The university said in a statement that campus police and other law enforcement agencies were “actively clearing all buildings on campus.” Students, faculty, and staff who do not live on campus were asked to leave once their building was cleared.

“Official University business is suspended for the remainder of the day,” the university said. “We appreciate your cooperation as we work closely with law enforcement to ensure the safety of our Hornet family. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”
