Linus “Lenny” Losh passed away on September 3, 2025, in Westerville, Ohio, with his daughter by his side. He is best known for his lifelong commitment to serving the agricultural community. His career in agriculture and conservation spanned more than five decades.
Losh worked with the Soil and Water Conservation Service from 1948 to 2000. In 1955, he became Chief Economist and head of Ohio’s Watershed Planning Party. From 1963 to 1980, he served in Washington, D.C., overseeing conservation work in Ohio and other Midwest states. While there, he helped develop the Resource Conservation Act and created the National Resource Inventory, which remains the federal government’s primary source of information on soil, water, and related resources on non-federal land.
