The county primaries aren’t until May 2026, but the Baldwin County sheriff’s race is already shaping up to be a competition over who will back President Donald Trump ’s law enforcement initiatives more.
During a candidate forum hosted by the Eastern Shore Republican Women at the Yacht Club in Fairhope, incumbent Sheriff Anthony Lowery, a political appointee seeking a full term, and County Commissioner Mathew McKenzie cited Trump’s law enforcement policies as paths to improving crime rates and securing a safer county.
