JEFFERSONTOWN, Ky. —

The Jeffersontown Fire Department gathered at Remembrance Plaza for a remembrance ceremony to honor first responders who lost their lives 24 years ago.

The ceremony was held to honor the bravery and sacrifice that were shown on that day with prayer, choral presentations and a bell tolling to note when each hijacked plane crashed.

Major Jonathan Baker said at the ceremony, "Firefighters, police officers, EMTs and paramedics never asked any questions that morning; they just acted, responding and walked toward danger for complete strangers."

A wreath was laid at the base of the glass towers at Remembrance Plaza, representing the World Trade Center.
