WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Thursday told KWTX that Waco construction worker Noe Guerrero, recently released from an immigration facility in Conroe, has “documented ties to an alleged leader of a major drug cartel.”

Guerrero made headlines after ICE agents arrested him in Waco on July 24 , breaking a window on his pickup as they took him into custody.

ICE claims Guerrero was initially arrested for immigration violations and for violating the terms of his bond by engaging in suspected criminal activity.

Federal criminal charges against Guerrero related to the ICE arrest in Waco were dropped in early August and he was released after his family posted a $5,000 bond on Sept. 4.
