WHAT IS THE HART HUB?

Announced roughly one year ago after targetting nine supervised drug-use sites for shut-down, Queen’s Park pledged to reopen the sites as hubs prioritizing mental health and addictions services.

The province introduced legislation banning supervised drug-use sites within 200 metres of child care centres or schools, but later pledged to open other similar hubs across the province. Deputy premier and Minister of Health Sylvia Jones said at the 2024 Association of Ontario municipalities conference the hubs would be based on London’s model for full-service shelters.

In January this year, Jones announced the city would be the site of one of 19 hubs , promising 60 treatment beds and 60 supportive housing units run by the Canadian Mental Health Assoc
