BLOOMINGTON ( 25News Now ) - An occupant of a Bloomington home admitted to starting a fire and barricading themselves inside.

The Bloomington Fire Department was called to a home in the 1300 of East Washington Street, being told while responding that one person was trapped on the second floor with another trying to rescue them.

As firefighters started to arrive around 7:40 p.m., the person trapped had self-rescued by climbing onto a first-floor roof and jumping to the ground. That person was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

The fire department said firefighters encountered hoarding conditions and low visibility, and fire in a second-floor bedroom.

The fire was contained to the room of origin and displaced three people.
