WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The widow of former Baylor President Ken Starr, who died in 2022, says she is heartbroken about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk whom she and her husband considered a “close friend.”

Kirk was killed when a gunman opened fire during an event on the campus of Utah Valley University.

Speaking to KWTX from her home in Waco, Alice Starr said it was a meeting in her late husband’s office at Baylor nearly 15-years ago that eventually led Kirk on the journey of founding the conservative organization Turning Point USA.

“It was Charlie when he was admitted to Baylor who came to my husband who was president of Baylor at the time and he said, ‘I need your advice,” Alice recalled.
