On this 24nd anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the U.S., the Sault Star’s Jeffrey Ougler recalls how the Star, given the news operation’s close geographic proximity to the U.S., quickly sought to cover as many local angles as possible. Ougler, a young reporter at the time, remembered that fellow Timmins Daily Press alumnus Brad Hunter had gone on to the New York Post, so Ougler tracked down Hunter that fateful Tuesday and was not disappointed. Hunter relayed a remarkable first-hand account of what he witnessed. Here’s Ougler’s story as it appeared in the Sept. 12, 2001 edition of The Sault Star.
