Konzelmann Estate Winery owners are asking Niagara-on-the-Lake town councillors to allow it to hold as many as 30 outdoor summer events on its 1096 Lakeshore Rd property.

But a next door neighbour, Ed Werner, vehemently opposed the application, during a Sept. 9 planning meeting, arguing the winery has been “failing to follow the rules” in the past when hosting special activities.

Werner has lived on his Lakeshore Road property for about 40 years. He said Konzelmann’s application for a zoning amendment to allow for a 1,200-square-metre “outdoor event space” on the northeast corner of the 15.1-hectare property would impact neighbours, create noise and provide more parking issues for the community.
