IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - A new survey from the Professional Educators’ of Iowa is causing concern for the future of teaching staff.
Out of 3,000 recipients, 500 responded and the results show a growing number of educators are considering leaving the field.
“This past year our statistic was about 75% of our teachers have said they’ve considered leaving the field of education,” said Professional Educators of Iowa Executive Director Terry Gladfelter.
Nearly 400 said they are frustrated by the stress the workload brings, lack of communication from administration, and what PEI is calling a ‘lack of respect for the position".
“I’ve dealt with a situation personally where I’ve worked with a teacher and the first comment from the administrator is, ‘well what did you do to provoke it?’” said
