CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - There are heightened security concerns Thursday night for upcoming political events after political commentator Charlie Kirk was killed at an event on a college campus this week.
WBTV asked our security analyst about how things could change on college campuses. He also has reminders for anyone who may go to one of these types of events in the future.
Political events on college campuses are not new.
Karl de la Guerra, WBTV’s security analyst, said he expects to see more law enforcement and stricter screenings going forward.
“What we’re seeing here is a very large-scale situational awareness condition that’s going on right now with individuals that are in the public eye and rightly so,” De la Guerra said.
