WALLA WALLA, Wash. – A new mural at Providence St. Mary Medical Center is bringing beauty and inspiration to patients and staff. The mural, visible from multiple floors, was created through a collaboration between Providence St. Mary Foundation, the hospital and the Washington State Penitentiary.
The artwork features a landscape with the Blue Mountains, wheat fields and flowers, elements suggested by Providence St. Mary caregivers. It can be seen from patient rooms facing west, including the intensive care unit and family birth center.
Matt Volta, chief mission officer for the Providence Southeast Washington Service Area, expressed the mural's significance.
"Putting beauty into the world is highly restorative and speaks to our Mission," he said.
