HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Smoke shops could soon have new restrictions in Hendersonville.

The city's planning commission recently discussed a new zoning ordinance that would require smoke shops to be at least 1,000 feet apart and away from schools, and it would grandfather in existing shops.

Hendersonville has around a dozen smoke and vape shops, most of which can be found in close proximity along Main Street. As of publication, the city has little to no regulations on the shops.

“They really aren’t treated anything differently than other retail,” Hendersonville mayor Jamie Clary said. “We’re seeing situations in other cities and other states where, since this is a health-related matter and since there are age-restrictions, that cities are finding themselves a little bit behind.”
