DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - Attorney General Brenna Bird is warning Iowans of scammers who are impersonating potential employers.
Bird says in this scam, the scammer offers you a job through a text or email allowing work from home with little effort. Then the scammer pushes for answers involving personal financial information for “direct deposit.”
The attorney general’s office warns that job offers requiring personal financial details before an interview or official hiring are likely scams.
“If a job offer seems too good to be true, it probably is. Scammers are evil and prey on people who need a job or extra income,” said Attorney General Bird. “Be very aware, do your homework on a potential employer, and don’t give away your personal information until you have a job offer from a legitima
