BEREA, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Berea Police Department is investigating a threat that led to the lockdown of two local schools.

The Berea Police Department announced on Thursday that there was no credible threat after a lockdown at Madison Southern High School and Foley Middle School.

The department said officers were called around 11:40 a.m., about a potential threat involving Madison Southern High School. As a precaution, both Madison Southern High School and Foley Middle School were placed on lockdown.

A news release from Madison County Schools said law enforcement made a full sweep of the building.

After an investigation, police determined there was no active threat to student safety, and the lockdown was lifted around 12:30 p.m.
