CHICAGO (WLS) -- There are lots of dogs and cats in Chicago that need loving homes.

An "Adopt Local: Chicago Shelter Pet Week" pet adoption event will be held this weekend at Chicago Animal Care and Control, located at 2741 S. Western Ave.

CACC is still seeing a large influx of animals, with an average of 56 new pets arriving every day.

Susan Capello, the acting executive director of CACC, joined ABC7 Thursday to talk about the pet adoption event happening Saturday.

This week is the first-ever Adopt Local: Chicago Shelter Pet Week.

Capello explained what people can expect if they come down to Chicago Animal Care and Control this week and especially at Saturday's big adoption event, "From Chicago, With Love."
