BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Forest Lawn Cemetery is known for its history and beauty, but recent reports to WIVB News 4 raise questions about what's happening behind the gates.

In recent weeks, News 4 has received numerous inquiries about the deer population at the cemetery. Several viewers claimed that deer were being euthanized under the supervision of the Department of Environmental Conservation.

Forest Lawn staff said the number of deer has climbed significantly in recent years within the gates, leading to reports of injured and malnourished animals.

The NYS DEC tells News 4, because of this, cemetery officials applied for a Deer Damage Permit (DPP).
