As the search continues for the person who shot and killed Conservative political activist and media personality Charlie Kirk, those who knew him and followed his message remain in disbelief and heartbreak.

“He was very accessible, and he was just really sweet,” said Estrella Hanson, a former University of Texas at Arlington student who led the campus chapter of Turning Point USA.

Kirk founded the group as a way to promote conservative voices at college campuses across the country.

“I’m conservative. When I joined college, there was no Republican or Conservative club at the time,” explained Hanson, who helped spearhead the group in 2016 and also became president.
