Scott scored its first victory over Start in three years on Thursday, defeating the Spartans 12-6.

Playing on its home field, Scott scored twice in the second half to secure victory in the City League opener for both teams.

Rolandis Russell scrambled and found La’Vontae Purley from 34 yards out, dropping the ball into Purley's hands in the back of the end zone, with 8:18 to go to give the Bulldogs the lead.

Scott's defense then stopped the visiting Spartans (1-3) just short on a 4th-and-3 play with 1:54 to go, and the Bulldogs (1-3) achieved a first down via measurement to secure the victory.

Start's Ta'Rese Highsmith opened the scoring 45 seconds into the second quarter on a 1-yard run.
