Thousands of National Guard troops continued patrolling D.C. streets after President Donald Trump's 30-day crime emergency expired Wednesday night.
Almost half those troops are D.C. National Guard, patrolling Metro stations and the National Mall — many of them armed — as well as performing beautification duties .

Meanwhile, D.C. residents have expressed displeasure with their presence.
