SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A fundraiser event took place at Student Prince on Fort Street in Springfield to raise money for cancer research.

The event aimed to support the Jimmy Fund and the Andy Yee Palliative Care Unit, benefiting cancer research and care at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and locally at Mercy Medical Center.

"We're doing it this year in honor of Lynn Risik, who passed away from cancer," said Mike O'Neill, a participant in the event.

The fundraiser featured live music from the local band 'Trailer Trash,' adding a lively atmosphere to the charitable event.

The event is connected to the upcoming 26th annual Ken O'Neill Dawn to Dusk Golf Marathon, which will take place at the Chicopee Country Club on September 15th.
