NEW HAVEN, Conn. — New Haven police arrested a man Thursday morning after a sexual assault in Fort Hale Park in August.

Ludvi Carias-Interiano, 34, of West Haven, is facing charges of aggravated sexual assault in the first degree and unlawful restraint in the first degree. He is currently being held on a $750,000 bond.

Officers responded to the park on the morning of Aug. 9 for a report of a sexual assault. The woman told officers that she was running in a wooded area of the park when a man with a box cutter attacked her.

Police previously noted that the incident happened on a trail south of Fort Hale Dog Park on 408 Townsend Ave.

Officers were initially unable to find the man after the assault, police said. The victim received medical treatment at a hospital.
