NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- More than 24 hours after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, questions are still swirling around the shooter and the event in Utah.
News 8 spoke with two law enforcement experts from Connecticut universities with long histories of policing both at their schools and around the state.
Authorities have said that the shooter was perched on the roof of a building.
"You could look at it now and ask why they really didn't give a lot of thought to those buildings in the background, but those are typical events that would happen on any campus," Gary McNamara, the Executive Director of Public Safety at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, said. “It's an open environment, you're bringing a lot of students onto campus, maybe some outsiders."
