ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Residents packed the Coweta County fairgrounds Thursday night for a public hearing on a data center ordinance.

The board of commissioners has already approved one facility. Another massive data center called Project Sail has been proposed along U.S. 27 near Newnan.

“As interest in siting data centers in our county grows, we want to ensure that any future development supports economic growth while also protecting the long-term interests of our community,” the Board of Commissioners said in a statement.

The purpose of the hearing was to get public feedback on the current proposed ordinance.
