EAST MOLINE, Illinois (KWQC) - Sunday will be a big celebration for the Mexican community in the Quad Cities.

Runner’s Park in East Moline, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., will host the Mexican Independence celebration that has been part of the Quad Cities for 15 years.

The event festival Voces Sin Miedo: El Grito de Todos will be a fiesta full of the green, white, and red of the Mexican flag — along with traditions in food, live music, and dance.

“You don’t have to be Hispanic to come down and celebrate a beautiful culture. This is an open invitation to everybody in the Quad Cities to come join us to unite. The Quad Cities is a diverse community,” said Graciela Macias, event organizer.
