PEPPER PIKE, Ohio -- Four Orange High School seniors were recently named National Merit semifinalists.
Anna Karman, Caroline Jang, Matthew Comella and Ishan Bhatt are among the top 1 percent of high school seniors in the country, based on their junior year PSAT scores, according to a news release from the Orange City School District.
The National Merit Scholarship Corp. announced the names of the semifinalists earlier this week.
More than 1.3 million students took the PSAT, with only 16,000 nationwide being selected as semifinalists in the 71st annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
These academically talented high school seniors now have an opportunity to continue in the competition for 6,930 scholarships worth nearly $26 million.
Those scholarships will be announced next spring.
