SYLVANIA, Ga. - A young girl was killed while waiting for the school bus this morning in Screven County, according to officials.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, on Thursday at 6:39 a.m., a trooper was dispatched to a single-vehicle crash involving a 5-year-old pedestrian.
Kyleigh Roper was identified as the young girl. Her mom shared photos with News 12.
The Screven County Sheriff’s Office says it happened in the Whitehill Road area.
Officials say a Dodge Dart was traveling north on Whitehill Road.
While waiting at the bus stop, GSP says, “the pedestrian darted into the roadway for an unknown reason and was struck.”
