The NCAA has permanently banned three college athletes who played basketball at Fresno State and San Jose State after they violated ethical conduct rules by betting on games, the organization announced Wednesday.
Mykell Robinson, Steven Vasquez and Jalen Weaver were ruled permanently ineligible by the NCAA. All three players were released from their respective teams and are no longer enrolled at those schools, according to a news release .
Robinson and Vasquez were roommates at Fresno State during the 2023-24 season. The following season, in January 2025, Robinson texted with Vasquez – who had then transferred to San Jose State – and the two coordinated a plan to underperform in several statistical categories during a regular season game, according to an NCAA investigation.
