NBC News confirmed Friday morning that a suspect in the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk was in custody, three days after Kirk, 31, was shot and killed as he spoke to a crowd during an event at Utah Valley University in Orem.
News of the arrest came shortly after President Donald Trump, in an appearance on Fox and Friends Friday morning, said law enforcement had the suspect in the Kirk shooting in custody.
“I think, with a high degree of certainty, we have him — in custody ... everyone did a great job we worked with the local police, the governor, everybody did a great job," Trump said.
