With builders putting up new homes in several subdivisions, St. John has long been one of the fastest-growing communities in the state of Indiana.

The town's population has surged by around 25% over the last five years, according to U.S. Census data. St. John has grown to an estimated 25,000 residents, many recent transplants from Illinois and retail is starting to follow the rooftops.

Jewel-Osco just broke ground on a new supermarket in the long-vacant Kmart on Wicker Avenue. The Arcadia Center at Wicker Avenue and 101st Place underwent a multimillion-dollar expansion in which it added eight more storefronts.
