WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Over three years after the death of Wake County Deputy Ned Byrd , the brothers accused of his murder are expected to enter a plea in the case.

Arturo Marin-Sotelo, 29, and 25-year-old Alder Alfonso Marin-Sotelo, are facing charges and will enter their plea on Tuesday.

In August of 2022, investigators believe Alder and his older brother, Arturo, shot and killed Byrd.

Arturo Marin-Sotelo later admitted to authorities that they had an AK-47 with them at the time but told investigators they were using it to hunt deer.

While waiting to be tried on state murder charges, Alder Marin-Sotelo was convicted in December 2022 on a federal charge for possession of a firearm while living in the United States illegally.
