A Perth council has gone off its trolley over an eyesore on suburban streets.
The City of Canning has teamed up with local shopping centres to launch a new campaign to stop shopping trolleys being abandoned in public spaces.
It encourages residents to return trolleys after use and report any that have been dumped in the community.
They are also asked to not take trolleys out of shopping centres or their car park at all.
Mayor Patrick Hall said it was part of the city’s ongoing effort to maintain safe, clean and accessible public spaces.
Trolleys left on verges, footpaths, parks and in local waterways were not only unsightly, but they could block access ways, damage property and harm the environment.
